    What is liquor liability insurance?

    Liquor liability insurance is designed to protect event hosts and small business owners from the financial consequences arising out of various potential liabilities that result from their guests consuming alcohol on their premises or at their gatherings.

    In other words, liquor liability insurance will protect you and the venue when unexpected situations arise, which may not be in your control, even at an event where alcohol is available but not being sold.

    Do I need liquor liability insurance?

    If there is alcohol at your event, then, yes, you need liquor liability insurance. If a guest breaks property or injures themself or another person, you — as the host who allowed alcohol consumption — could be liable, regardless if guests bring their own alcohol or you made the drinks available.

    The cost for this insurance on a weekend event is in the $100-$200 dollar range. It can be purchased online or from your personal insurance agent if desired. We recommend Paul Shingledecker of Preferred Insurance: (269) 273-1597.
